Ameristeel operates a full range of cutting equipment — from high-powered TRUMPF fiber lasers to precision shears and band saws — to deliver accurate, clean cuts across every material and thickness. Our cutting department is the starting point for most fabrication projects, producing flat blanks, contoured parts, and structural shapes that feed directly into our forming, welding, and finishing operations.

Our two TRUMPF TruLaser 1030 fiber laser systems — a 6KW unit for heavy-gauge plate up to one inch thick and a 3KW unit optimized for thin-to-medium gauge sheet metal — run side by side to handle multiple cutting jobs simultaneously. Both are integrated with TRUMPF TruTops Boost CAD/CAM software, which automatically optimizes nesting layouts to maximize material yield and minimize waste on every job.

Beyond laser cutting, our Multi-cut Blanking Line processes coil and sheet steel for high-volume blanking operations, while our Cincinnati Shear handles precision straight-line cutting for squaring and trimming. The Ellis Dual Mitering Band Saw provides compound angle cuts on structural shapes, tubing, and bar stock for welded assemblies. For portable cutting and on-the-spot modifications, our Miller Spectrum plasma cutter delivers clean, flexible cuts wherever they're needed.
